Despite the fact that the Roma are one of the most frequent victims of discrimination in Slovakia and many Roma have been victims of multiple discrimination, the Antidiscrimination Law is rarely used by them to protect their rights. In connection with the EU Framework for National Roma Integration Strategies as well as the national documents elaborated within the Decade for Roma inclusion 2005-2015, tackling of discrimination that Roma face in all areas is one of the basic prerequisites for their successful inclusion into society. Increased awareness among Roma as to the opportunities provided by antidiscrimination legislation and about entities that can assist them to use it successfully can decrease or eliminate one of the main barriers preventing their full integration into the society. This priority is connected to the Roma objective in the call for proposals as well as in the dissemination of information on national policy and legislation in the area of non-discrimination.
