Creation of an information platform...

The aim of incorporating a portion of the project focused on the European Year of Active Ageing (EYAA) is based on the recommendation of the European Commission, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion to support 2012, declared as the European Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations as well as other European programmes focused on active ageing (shown in the draft European and Council Decision on EYAA 2012, No. 2010/0242 (COD) or in the Information note in view of the proposed European Year for Active Ageing (2012) "EU Funding Possibilities Related to Active Ageing" of 14.12.2010). The Office of the Government of the Slovak Republic, as the main applicant in the proposed project and pursuant to Article 4 of the proposed decision, was defined as the national coordinator of EYAA 2012.

Information activities focused on increasing awareness on the purpose and goals of the EYAA 2012 will contribute to the fulfilment of all three goals of the call. This will be possible on the basis of the implementation of the national EYAA 2012 implementation plan, which will include other planned activities. These activities will be published on an ongoing basis on the website set up within the framework of this project.

Support for activities held to benefit elderly people is secured after 2012 via the state subsidies system and via other national programs to support seniors and elderly people within various areas of life. GO manages a program for the promotion and protection of human rights, overcoming discrimination and intercultural dialogue which includes activities for seniors and elderly people and support for inter-generational solidarity. Other subsidy schemes are focused on supporting the culture of disadvantaged groups and on supporting inclusion or education.
